Day 3: Nassau, Bahamas

WARNING! Picture overload!

Day 3 we woke up and were excited to go out and see our first port, Nassau. We all showered, dressed, had a yummy breakfast in the dining room and then headed down to the third deck to leave the ship. It was a beautiful day in the Bahamas! Our ship was the first to arrive...

Stryker thought their Navy Ships were cool

Beautiful Atlantis from the pier

We hadn't booked any shore excursions through the cruise line, so we headed down the pier, through the street and hailed a taxi going to Paradise Island. Pat, Dan nor Stryker (obviously) had ever been over to see the beautiful Atlantis Resort.

I sat in this chair exactly 10 years ago with Tiffany when we went on our BFF cruise!

Checking out the Aquarium

We bought passes to go through the magnificent aquarium at the hotel. It was beautiful! Stryker loved seeing on the fish and matching them to his map (a directory of fishes).

Two HUGE manta rays; They were amazing!

Our tour guide... struggling with the map above & kissing fish below

Two of my most favorite shots!

After walking through the aquarium, we headed outside to walk the grounds. OH. MY! How beautiful! Lots of water, more fish, fountains, beach lagoons, a large pool and a water park! I was kicking myself b/c none of us had worn our bathing suits :(

Sharks!

And like every great tourist trap destination, we ended in the gift shop which requires a souvenir. Stryker picked this Turtle to take home (funny, b/c we saw no turtles in this aquarium...). Daddy helped name him Big Head Fred b/c he has a rather large head and bug eyes :)

After a few moments of rest, we called up our taxi driver and he was Johnny-on-the-spot ready to retrieve us. We headed back over toward the main pier and my favorite, SHOPPING!

After the troops hung with me while I did some shopping and walking through the markets, we headed for Senor Frogs for some lunch. Stryker's first out the country restaurant experience. The food was delish (albeit VERY expensive!) and the drinks for Mommy & Daddy were pretty good too ;) It was a fun time!

By the time we got back around toward our boat, it was a full lot in Nassau! Two more Carnival ships had joined us as well as a Royal Caribbean. Pretty neat how they just whip those big things in and out of there.

After arriving back to our suite, Stryker wanted to head upstairs to the Sports Deck and play some putt putt. Since we were in port, I figured that would be a good idea & less crowded. We slipped on our suits, got us some putters and hit the course. Mommy won! But these guys were good sports :)

After a round of putt putt, we headed down to the pool for a swim and then over to the water park so Stryker could play. It was super relaxing since hardly anyone was around! Nothing like catching those rays with a good book!

After all that play, there wasn't time for a nap and this is what you get at an 8:15 dinner:

Poor little guy sleeping sitting up in his chair. Daddy enjoyed the dessert this night tho! Chocolate cake and ice cream.. yum!

With the little guy passed out, we headed back to the room after dinner and I stayed in with him for the night while Dan & Pat went downstairs for a bit. No worries for me, The Hunger Games was on and it was nice to curl up in that big comfy bed and watch TV in the dark. HELLOOOOO vacation! :) Of course we had another towel animal awaiting us...

Sweet, Sweet Angel!
